South Sudan's wildlife and other natural resources are being threatened by an alarming expansion of illegal exploitation and trafficking, a conservation group said Thursday. The Wildlife Conservation Society, working alongside local partners, has documented a sharp rise in illegal activities - including ivory trafficking and illegal logging - in many parts of South Sudan, the New York-based group said in a statement. The illegal activities are perpetrated by local as well as international individuals, including members of the country's armed forces, the statement said.
