Myanmar: More Than 290 Gem Blocks Due to Expire in June

Exploration activities in 291 gem blocks in Lonekhin, Hpakant, Mongshu, Moegok, Mohnyin and Nantyarseik will be discontinued in June, a source of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation said. Some 128 gem blocks in Lonekhin and Hpakant gem lands, 129 in Monhnyin, 28 in Moegok, four in Mongshu and two in Nantyarseik will not have the right to explore for gems next month. Permissions were granted to 129 gem blocks in Monhnyin gem land in 2012, 28 in Moegok in 2014, 128 in Lonekhin and Hpakant in 2010 and 2012 and two in Nantyarseik in 2012. They will expire in June.
