Myanmar: Myitkyina District Court Charges Chinese Timber Smugglers under Public Property Protection Act

The court in Myitkyina District, Kachin State, charged 85 Chinese timber smugglers under the Public Property Protection Act. The law carries a sentence of at least 10 years in prison. A total of 155 Chinese nationals were initially arrested for timber smuggling in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State, in early 2015.
