Afghanistan: Protesters Demand Power Dam’s Construction in Kunar

Hundreds of people on Thursday staged a protest demonstration in eastern Kunar province, demanding the construction of a hydropower dam in the province. One of the participants, Maulvi Mohammad Anwar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the government should construct a dam on the Kunar River in Soor Taq area of Asmar district. According to a survey, the dam could produce hundreds of megawatts of power and irrigate tens of thousands of hectares of land.
