The two leaders said they are pleased with the development of the Vietnam-Laos relationship and cooperation on all fronts, including the recently signed trade agreements which set a target for two-way trade of 2 billion United States dollars this year, as well as numerous high-ranking delegation exchanges. In the past decade, however, their ties have been strained in the contest over the South China Sea.
