The Forest Department under Sagaing regional Ministry of Environmental Conservation said it seized 558.361 tonnes of illegal timber and arrested 79 suspects in late September.  Khin Maung Win, the director of the Forest Department, said: “In September, we seized less illegal timber than August. Thanks to public participation, we received more information about it then, and could seize larger quantities of illegal timber.”
