Myanmar: ‘Excessive Mining’ Blamed for Kachin Water Shortage

Residents of Kachin State have said “excessive jade mining” is a reason for a water shortage in the hot season. The Lonekhin village-tract where the majority of mines locate has reportedly faced a water shortage and it is only March. Although the officials of mining companies are distributing water to Lonekhin villages, many people are still struggling for water.
