The Yangon Forest Department has seized 571 tonnes of illegally logged timber and nabbed the managing directors of two companies, department director U Thein Toe said yesterday. He said that the first seizure was made at Yangon’s Myanmar Industrial Port (MIP) where the illegal timber had been loaded onto containers. One seizure took place on January 24 involving two containers loaded with 33 tonnes of teak bound for Singapore.
