Maryland County Senator J. Gbleh-Bo Brown has disclosed that the 50 years concession agreements between the Liberian Government and Cavalla Rubber Corporation and the Maryland Oil Palm Plantation did not address land issues, especially for communities located near the concession area.
The concessions were reached in 2011 when Senator Brown was superintendent of Maryland County.
Weeks following his election, he claimed that the agreements were passed into law without consultation with Marylanders and county authorities.
According to him, the agreements were drafted without the National Investment Commission (NIC) and Inter Ministerial Committee (IMC) conducting proper assessment of the farms.
