The European Space Agency (ESA) will help Colombia monitor the ongoing deforestation of the country’s Amazon forest, the South American country announced on Tuesday. With the agreement, Colombia’s meteorological institute, IDEAM, will be given access to the ESA’s Copernicus program, the world’s largest single earth observations program. The program’s multiple satellite data sets would help the institute monitor deforestation more closely.
