Myanmar: Thanlwin Dams Only Benefit China: Activists

Chinese-sponsored dam projects on the Thanlwin River are unacceptable because of their environmental impact while the benefits will go to China and Thailand, activists from the three affected states are arguing. The Progressive Mon Youth Association said the projects only benefited China and Thailand who would implement the projects in partnership with some domestic companies. Between six and nine dams are expected.
