Afghanistan/Iran: Iran Criticizes Afghanistan over New Dam Projects

The filling of the Pashdan Dam in Herat and the Afghan government's efforts to build two new dams on the Farah River have drawn a strong reaction from the Iranian government. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the construction of these water and power dams violates bilateral agreements between the two countries and disregards Iran’s rights.
