Myanmar: Myitsone Developer Releases Excerpts of Contract Agreement

Amid continued lobbying from China to restart the controversial Myitsone dam, the development company behind the project released excerpts of the contract agreement over the weekend. In a Myanmar-language statement disseminated through Chinese state mouthpiece Xinhua, China Power Investment Corporation listed a series of alleged benefits for the local people, a bid to sway public opinion in favour of resuming the US$3.6 billion hydropower project.
