The government of Sudan has stunned Chinese investors in gold mining in the country by ordering them to stop extraction operations within 24 hours or face arrest. As a result, most Chinese gold extracting enterprises have stopped production, while others have hired local contractors to keep their factories running. All the Chinese technicians working for the affected enterprises have been forced to stay in the capital Khartoum, according to a report by the Chinese online news service Jiemian.
