Colombian authorities estimate that more than a quarter of petrol sold in the country last year went to the drugs industry, which depends on the fuel both as an ingredient and power source. Colombia’s attorney general’s office has announced that it is investigating 33 fuel stations, many of them in troubled border regions where rule of law is fragile.
