If you needed another reason to object to military conflict, thank the environment. At least 40 percent of internal conflicts have been linked to the exploitation of natural resources throughout the past 60 years. November 6 marks the United Nations’ International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, an attempt to finally bring some awareness to the impact of warfare on surrounding ecosystems.
