Afghanistan: Children Work to Survive in Afghanistan Poppy Fields [Video]

The poppy harvest season is underway in Afghanistan, and children in southern Kandahar province are working in poppy fields to make a living. During the process of collecting raw opium in the fields, many of these children become drug addicts. Afghan officials told VOA the government is committed to respecting international laws prohibiting child labor and that measures would be taken to address the problem.
