The Malaysian palm oil company, Sime Darby, has broken grounds for the construction of a $10 million palm oil factory in Liberia, the management told APA on Friday. Speaking at the ceremony, according to the Liberia News Agency Friday, the Deputy General Manager of Sime Darby, Rosli Mohammed Taib, said the decision to construct the mill was in fulfillment of the agreement the company signed with the Liberia Government in 2010.

He said upon completion, the factory will provide additional job opportunities for citizens of Grand Cape Mount, Bomi and Gbarpolu Counties as well as other parts of the country.

Meanwhile, according to Taib, the management has finalized plans to construct mini mills in any area where the company will have more than 100,000 hectares of palm oil, adding that the company is considering acquiring more land in order to expand the company’s operations in the three counties of Grand Cape Mount, Bomi and Gbarpolu.
