Sudan/South Sudan: Sudan and South Sudan to Renegotiate Oil Agreement

South Sudanese Oil Minister Awou Daniel Chuang reported that he will renegotiate an oil agreement with Sudan, since South Sudan is unable to meet the deadline to pay an agreed anount as a compensation for economic losses caused by its independence. South Sudan became independent from Sudan in 2011, but as part of the separation agreement, it was to pay 3 billion dollars in oil rent, due by December this year.
