Myanmar: EITI Report to Include Forest Sector

The forest sector will be covered independently in a report for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) this year, said an official of the forestry department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation. The first Myanmar EITI report includes oil, natural gas, minerals and gems, but leaves aside the forestry sector. The latter will be included in the Myanmar EITI report to enhance accountability for forest resource extraction.
