Iraq/Kurdistan: Kurdistan Authorities Reach Preliminary Deal with Baghdad to Resolve Oil Tensions

The prime minister of the semi-autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan, Masrur Barzani, announced Sunday a series of preliminary agreements with the Iraqi government to resolve a number of outstanding issues, including frictions over the sharing of the oil business. Tension between the Iraqi central government and the Kurdistan authorities flared up in February last year when Iraq’s Supreme Court declared «unconstitutional» the law in force until now that guaranteed Kurdish autonomy over their oilfields.
