The Herat Department of Agriculture and Irrigation said that security forces have been deployed in the pistachio forests of the province to prevent premature harvesting by the people. Herat's natural pistachio groves are in the districts of Keshk Kuhna and Ghorian, and every year the harvest is collected by the people.
