Myanmar: Plaintiff Fails to Show Up at the Second Court Hearing of Land-Grabbing Case

The commander of No 360 Field Artillery Regiment failed to show up for the second court hearing at Loikaw District Court on October 14, as a result the judge adjourned the hearing to October 28.
The case was brought to the district court by the commander of No 360 Field Artillery Regiment against 10 farmers from Daw So Shae village in Loikaw Township, for trespassing and planting crops on land claimed to be owned by the army.
The commander of the artillery regiment had also failed to show up for the first court hearing on October 1, and only a captain, two corporals and a private appeared as plaintiff witnesses before the court, said Katsapara, a member of the Daw So Shae Farmers’ Committee.
