The parliamentary commission for assessing legal affairs and special cases suggested better land management policy at a parliamentary session last month. It stated that speculation and monopolisation are the main reasons behind surging land prices which scare off potential investors. After a series of debates in Parliament, the central committee for managing vacant land issued an announcement on December 19 that land owners must return the land within 30 days after the announcement if they did not grow any crops on it.
