The Commissioner of Cinta Township in Margibi County, William Julye is demanding that Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC) makes immediate payment for crops it destroyed in Gibi District.
The company, which has a concession with the Government of Liberia, is currently expanding its plantation into several clans including Dinningta in Gibi District.
Residents of the area alleged that the company has cleared several private farms including rubber, cassava, banana, cocoa and also polluted several creeks, which serve as drinking water sources for residents.
