The Mandalay Region government announced Tuesday that it will confiscate unused farmland from its current owners. The announcement stated the government plans to confiscate 40,895 acres of land. The state reserves the right to reclaim such land if the owners fail to use it for agricultural business, according to the Vacant Land Management Law of 2012.
