South Sudan: South Sudan Tenders Environmental Study Following “Years of Neglect” of Its Oil Sector

The government of the Republic of South Sudan has announced a tender for a comprehensive environmental audit of all the country’s producing oilfields. The Petroleum Act of 2012, enacted a year after independence, governs the oil sector in South Sudan. The Act is designed to better manage the environmental impact of the sector after years of neglect prior to independence, and the resulting pollution.
