Myanmar: Jade Mining Suspended in 17 Hpakant Blocks after Landslide

The central government has suspended 17 jade mining blocks operated by 11 companies in Hpakant area, the Kachin State government told The Myanmar Times. The move comes on the heels of a landslide at an old jade mining block operated by Unity Co is believed to have killed at least 55 people last Wednesday.
