About 200 government firefighters and 100 volunteer firefighters have been wrestling to extinguish the landfill fire. The brave and self-sacrificing firefighters work around the clock amid toxic fumes at considerable risk to their own lives to put out the fire. Sympathetic donors in Yangon flock to the dumpsite to donate purified drinking water, meals and snacks to firefighters. Yangonites are anxiously waiting for the rains to help them in their fight.
