Iran/Iraq: Iran Calls for Boosting Oil, Gas Cooperation with Iraq

Iran and Iraq can boost cooperation in oil and gas sector, the Islamic Republic’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said, Iran’s Fars news agency reported Dec. 24.
Larijani made the remarks during a meeting with Iraqi President Muhammad Fuad Masum in Baghdad.
Larijani said that Iran and Iraq benefit historic ties, adding the Islamic Republic has supported Iraq in the country’s difficult conditions.
The Iranian speaker also praised Masum’s role in establishing political stability in Iraq.
Larijani also accused certain regional countries of supporting terrorist groups in Iraq.
The Iranian speaker is currently in Iraq’s capital Baghdad for the last leg of his regional tour including Syria and Lebanon.
