Myanmar: Millions of Tonnes of Teak and Hardwood Exported

The Thein Sein government has permitted the export of 5.7 million tonnes of teak and hardwood over the past four years.The timber was exported with permission from the Myanmar Timber Enterprise (MTE).In 2011-12 fiscal year, teak and hardwood totaling around 2.3 million tonnes was exported, following by nearly 1.7 million tonnes in 2012-13, about 1 million tonnes in 2013-14, and over 700,000 tonnes in the current fiscal year.
