What can climate security learn from the women, peace, and security (WPS) agenda? The two agendas share the need for urgent, context-specific, interdisciplinary responses, suggesting climate security can look to the implementation of National Action Plans in the WPS context to develop further.

Twenty-one years ago, decades of advocacy work culminated in the passing of UN resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security (WPS). This landmark achievement recognised that for peace and security, women´s rights need to be advanced and protected.
