The Hans Günter Brauch Foundation (HGBS) supports two prizes on peace, ecology and the Anthropocene and of linkages between these themes. The annual International Science Prize for Peace and Ecology in the Anthropocene is supported by the HGB-Foundation in Mosbach, Germany. Each Call for the International Science Prize (ISP) differs. The theme of the ISP 2023 is: “Climate Change and Conflict”

The HGBS awards the international science prize annually to a scholar of any country who has made innovative scientific contributions on the theme of the annual call. First Announcement of the Call: 10 July 2022 Applicants are invited to submit their application until 31 January 2023:

  • A printed version of the published text with the name, issue, pages and the ISSN of the Journal, or ISBN of a book where it was published since January 2020;
  • A CV of the author with the author’s professional affiliation, postal and Email address, the author’s phone number and identity (ORCID and copy of passport page);
  • A signed letter that the applicant has authored the submitted text.

Conditions and Modalities

Each scholar participating in this competition must submit an original text of research authored solely by the appli-cant in English that was either published since January 2020.

  • in a peer-reviewed journal or
  • as a peer-reviewed book chapter since January 2020 or
  • is preferably an unpublished original text (article, report or book based on a PhD dissertation or habilitation).

If submissions are equal in quality the prize will be awarded to

  • a female scholar or to
  • a scholar working at an academic institution in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Plagiates will be excluded from the competition!

The prize will be awarded on 14 July 2023 in Mosbach and consists of a prize money of 3000 Euro, an airline ticket to Frankfurt and a stay in a hotel in Mosbach, Germany.
