Call for Proposals: Digital Technologies for Environmental Peacebuilding: Sustaining Peace in the Digital Age (DEADLINE EXTENDED)

Environmental Peacebuilding Association and United Nations Environment Programme
New big data systems and novel technologies, including earth observation, social media, artificial intelligence, blockchain and crowd-sourcing, have become critical to monitor and address natural resources management, environmental degradation, climate change, and human security.
These methods offer great potential for conflict and disaster early warning, horizon scanning, conflict monitoring, cooperative resource management, natural resources traceability, land use planning and more. However, the environmental peacebuilding field still lacks broad principles for the application and governance of these new technologies.
To address this gap, a group of researchers from Environmental Peacebuilding Association and the United Nations Environment Programme are assessing these technologies' specific applications for environmental peacebuilding. The case studies will be presented through a digital platform and a written policy report, highlighting both the benefits and risks posed by this rapidly evolving field.
This call is for submissions from developers, researchers and practitioners to share cases from their work demonstrating novel applications of frontier technology to advance environmental peacebuilding goals. If you wish to contribute to the report, please submit your case by 30 April 2021, using this form: https://forms.gle/MAqRimTXY6j9PgwD8
