The Environment and Public Policy (EPP) Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) invites you to attend the 2019 ACR Conference: Heal the Divide – A Focus on the Peacemaking Role of ADR Practitioners in a Divided Society in Tucson, Arizona on September 18 – 21, 2019. The ACR conference is a wonderful opportunity for those interested in environment, public policy, and conflict resolution to learn more about the field, share their experiences, and network with practitioners. The conference will feature an environment and public policy track with a variety of panels and interactive sessions hosted by leaders in the field, as well as a training day on Wednesday, September 18.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarships Available
To open the door for more participants of diverse backgrounds, we have scholarships available to cover the four-day conference registration and some travel costs (up to $1,000 of registration and travel expenses). The ACR definition of diversity includes, but is not limited to, race, age, ethnicity, national origin, language, sexual orientation, physical ability, and religion. We are inviting applications from students, early career practitioners, and those who may not have had a formal education in the field, but who do have an interest and are looking to explore opportunities in environment and public policy conflict resolution. If they wish, scholars will have the opportunity to present at the conference on a relevant paper, project, or experience.
The application deadline is midnight Eastern Time on Sunday, April 28, 2019. Successful candidates will be notified by May 3, 2019. The brief application is here<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/16rMyzWnumjy_B4QvNVTlJ5fxokSQqhtz94wllZbUydA/edit>.
Purpose of the Scholarship
ACR EPP supports diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is committed to creating points of access where there have historically been few or none. We aim to create awareness of our field, remove potential barriers, and build an environment that better represents the communities we serve. Goals of the scholarship include 1) making the conference accessible to those who may not have direct access to or experience in conflict resolution and public policy and 2) expanding the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives that are represented in the environment and public policy conflict resolution field.
