Call for Proposals: 1st International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding (Deadline: 2018-12-15)

The Environmental Peacebuilding Association is delighted to announce the call for proposals for the 1^st International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding. The conference will take place at the University of California, Irvine from October 23-25, 2019.

For the first conference, we are highlighting two special themes: (1) technology and innovation in environmental peacebuilding, and (2) Colombia. The conference will also cover a range of topics concerning environmental conflict and peacebuilding. We are soliciting abstracts for panels, roundtables, and posters along the following themes:

In addition, people may propose panels, roundtables, posters, or other contributions on other themes related to environment, conflict, and peace. We welcome contributions from practitioners, academics, students, and journalists, among others.

Panels will include 3-5 paper presentations, with adequate time for discussion.  Roundtables are a discussion-oriented session without formal presentations. Most panels and roundtables will be 90 minutes long.  There will be a poster session on October 23, 2019, with the posters remaining on display for the duration of the conference. 

Abstracts for individual papers should be no more than 150 words. Panel submissions should include a 100-word summary abstract plus all the individual paper abstracts (150 words each). A roundtable submission should include a 200-word abstract describing the nature of the roundtable, participants, and format. Proposals for panels and roundtables should only include people that have indicated their willingness to participate. A person may make more than one proposal.

The deadline for submissions is December 15, 2018. The Conference Scientific Committee will review the submissions and expects to send notification of its decisions by January 31, 2019.
