The Russian military invasion of Ukraine has vastly affected freshwater systems and critical water facilities in the country. A study now evaluates the magnitude of the damage and the related environmental and livelihood implications. The environmental consequences of armed conflicts have been well documented in the relevant literature. Research has demonstrated the profound and often irrevocable damages of military attacks to life-support ecosystem services.
