On June 26-28, 2023, the 'Security Implications of Climate Change’ conference will convene in Gaborone, Botswana. This gathering will bring together senior military leaders from 45 African countries, AFRICOM, military attachés from U.S. embassies, and other valued partners.  This video will provide an overview of how Climate Change is impacting Africa, and how it could impact the future of the continent. With regions already grappling with political, social, and economic challenges, it is vital to explore practical solutions and strategic opportunities for effective collaboration.  The conference will focus on climate security threats and how U.S. and African partner militaries, along with their interagencies, can respond effectively. We aim to integrate climate information into military planning, highlight success stories of African-led responses, foster multilateral cooperation, and identify programming gaps for future investments. Together, we will shape a path toward a more secure and resilient future. Stay tuned for updates following the conference.
