Water is a vital resource. It is essential for life, public health, food security, energy, industry and ecosystem services. It is also a major issue for human security and peace. Sustainable and equitable access to water resources is a global challenge of the 21st century.

15 countries convened together the Global High Level Panel on Water and Peace, launched in Geneva in November 2015. Chaired by Dr. Danilo Türk, former President of the Republic of Slovenia, the Panel has been working intensively for two years and is pleased to present its recommendations on prevention and resolution of water related conflicts and the use of water cooperation for building peace.

Opened by Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter and high level representatives, the presentation of the report of the Global High Level Panel on Water and Peace in Geneva provides a unique opportunity to discover first-hand the findings and the recommendations fo the report, to meet the members of the Panel as well as to exchange on important issues in the realm of water, peace and security.

It will also be the first performance of the “Symphonie de la Paix”, composed during the past two years. A cocktail will close the evening.
