The following outlines objectives, outcomes and participants for a Global Water Security Summit on World Water Day, March 22, 2016, to be held at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C. Approximately 200 senior-level leaders and decision makers from key U.S. private, public and civil society organizations will share commitments, discuss significant challenges and opportunities, and identify the role of U.S. leadership in building global water security. Outcomes from the Summit will elevate water as a national priority, support the development of a U.S. Global Water Strategy and invite regional dialogues on global water security with central stakeholders across the United States. The Water for the World Act directs the President to submit a U.S. government-wide Global Water Strategy no later than October 2017. The U.S. Global Water Grand Strategy seeks to provide input into this process from both public and private sector stakeholders and to highlight the importance of water as a strategic resource in the national security context.

The agenda, including speakers and sessions topics, is coming shortly. The event will run from 8:30 am-5pm.
