Building on the recommendations of the study “A New Climate for Peace”, the G7 Foreign Ministers agreed in April that risks of instability and conflict stemming from climate change must be effectively addressed. But how?
The side event Climate Security and Resilience – The Way Forward will discuss potential activities by governments, multilateral institutions and initiatives.
It will take place from 12:00-14:00 in the German Pavillon. The event is organised by adelphi and the German Federal Foreign Office and aims at further exploring how to strengthen resilience as a key foreign policy focus. The panellists include Peter Fischer (German Federal Foreign Office), Nicolas Regaud (Advisor to the Director General DGRIS/ French Ministry of Defense), David Jensen (UNEP, Post-Conflict and Disaster Management Branch) and Dennis Tänzler (adelphi).
Apart from this side event, the Adelphi stand in the Climate Generations areas will inform non-accredited COP21 visitors about climate diplomacy from 1 to 11 December 2015.
Adelphi’s experts will discuss the major issues of climate diplomacy, resilience, climate security and conflict prevention. Among others, meet Stephan Wolters on Tuesday 1 December from 16:00-17:00; and Dennis Tänzler on Friday 11 December from 12:00-13:00.
