EcoPeace Middle East, the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), cordially invite you to a conference on “Climate Change and the Geopolitics of Water and Energy Challenges and Opportunities in the Levant.”
The conference will take place on Thursday, December 3rd, at the INSS building in Ramat-Aviv from 8:30 to 13:30 and will consist of panel discussions and key note presentations. The conference coincides with the United Nations Conference on Climate Change taking place the same week in Paris, France. The conference will have simultaneous translation to Hebrew and English.
Climate Change, Water Governance and Human and National Security Challenges facing Israel and the Region
This first panel will explore the different dimensions - humanitarian, environmental, political and security - related to climate change and water supply and the challenges posed to Israel and the region. Discussions will draw from the experience of water governance failure in the case of Syria and the present water and energy crises facing Gaza.
A Water Energy Nexus as a Roadmap for Sustainable Regional Cooperation
This second panel presents the idea and initial results of a new EcoPeace / KAS study launched concerning the creation of a water and renewable energy community between Israel and her neighbors and how such a nexus can better contribute to regional stability.
Attendance is free of charge but prior registration is required.
