Over the next few decades water cooperation will not only have an impact on food production, health and industrialisation, but also on peace and security between countries in troubled regions.
“Water Cooperation Quotient” created by the Strategic Foresight Group reveals that any two countries engaged in active water cooperation do not go to war for any reason whatsoever. It is the first barometer in the world to compare quality of water cooperation between riparian countries from all continents. It is prepared with the analysis of 205 shared river basins from 148 countries and 84 institutions engaged in joint management of water bodies.
