Earth Institute's Fall 2015 Haiti Dialogue Series: Discussing Climate, Security and Development Linkages in the Context of Haiti

Nov 21, 2014 | Earth Institute
New York City

The Earth Institute's Haiti Research and Policy Program, in partnership with EI's Environment and Security Program and EU Institute for Security Studies will convene a small group of faculty, researchers and policy makers to discuss linkages between climate change, natural hazards, development and fragility in Haiti. The event will be structured with opening presentations summarizing research in Haiti followed by an open discussion among participants.  The initial comments will summarize what is known about climate change dynamics in Haiti, provide an overview of Haiti’s political and economic fragility, review sustainable development frameworks for fragile states and present recent research on perceived linkages between environmental risks and fragility. Speakers include Marc Levy of Columbia University's Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN), Roger-Mark De Souza, Sabine Marx of the Center for Research on Environmental Decision-Making (CRED) and Paola Kim-Blanco of the Center for Globalization and Sustainable Development (CGSD).
