Career Advice with Tobias Ide

Mar 3, 2020 | Young Professionals Interest Group, Environmental Peacebuilding Association
Washington, DC / online

This is an opportunity for scholars and practitioners to discuss research trends and career opportunities in environmental peacebuilding. The event will start with a very brief introduction into why environmental peacebuilding has currently such a strong scholarly and political momentum before the floor is open to all kinds of questions and topics attendees would like to bring. The seminar is mainly targeting young scholars and professionals as well as academic research and careers, but other backgrounds and topic are also welcome. Following up on EnPAx’s career focus workshop in Irvine, the event offers a small and encouraging space to bring recent topics and “stupid” questions. The session is sponsored by the EnPAx Young Professionals Interest Group.

Dr Tobias Ide is a DECRA Research Fellow at the School of Geography, University of Melbourne (Australia) and an associated assistant professor in International Relations at the Brunswick University of Technology (Germany). He published widely on peacebuilding, violent conflict, environmental politics, climate change and international security.

Moderator Emily Sample is a PhD candidate at George Mason University School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, where she is the Executive Director of the Raphaël Lemkin Genocide Prevention Program. Emily is also a fellow with the Climate and Security Advisory Group. Previously, she has worked as Associate Director of Education at Holocaust Museum Houston and for the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region Ugandan National Committee on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide and Mass Atrocities, as well as the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
