A panel discussion with Christine Johnson, President of the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast, and Dr. Heather O'Leary, Assistant Professor ISS-Anthropology, University of South Florida. Moderated by E. Scott Osborne and Chris Serio Martin.

About the panelists:

Christine Johnson: After earning a BS in Business Administration from the College of Charleston and an MBA from the University of Florida, Christine worked in management and consulted with Fortune 500 companies in fields ranging from manufacturing to media. Christine has worked in the nonprofit sector in this region since 2004. She successfully completed the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida's $7M capital campaign to build a regional headquarters and then served as Director of Development for Ringling College of Art and Design, overseeing their largest fundraising campaign and leading a team to raise over $100M. In October of 2011, she was named President of Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast, where she works to save land and ensure public access to natural places. 

Heather O'Leary: Assistant Professor ISS-Anthropology, University of South Florida. M.A., University of Chicago. Ph.D., University of Minnesota. Dr. Heather O’Leary champions citizen engagement for sustainable urban development. Her research interests include transnational disparities related to women’s rights, water politics, urbanization and the environment. O’Leary was a Wenner-Gren and a Fulbright Fellow in India, where she has traveled and performed ethnographic research in Hindi for more than a decade. She speaks Hindi and Urdu, having received a Foreign Language and Area Studies Award from United States Department of Education. O’Leary teaches undergraduate courses in anthropology and interdisciplinary social sciences, including courses on gender in the cross-cultural perspective, environmental movement’s methodologies and a senior capstone course.
