Join us for a workshop to challenge our thinking and reframe how we approach women’s participation in peacebuilding.

Formal resistance and implicit bias by those who hold power in politics, institutions and communities are key obstacles to women’s meaningful participation at all levels of society. Do we approach this as a problem to solve or accept that these tensions will persist?

Using the case study of Afghanistan, participants will analyse the tensions that persist in peacebuilding, particularly around holding power and sharing power. We will break out into 3 groups to question our mindsets and theories of change, and share experiences within our community of experts, practitioners and policy makers. Collectively, we will identify some concrete steps to overcome resistance and work towards more sustainable peace and gender equality. Attendance for this workshop will be limited to 30 people. This event is in English.
