Presentation by Professor Gregg B. Walker
Mediators Without Borders

Gregg B. Walker is a professor of Communication at Oregon State University, also serving as an adjunct professor in various environmental programs. He specializes in conflict management, negotiation, mediation, and environmental conflict resolution. Co-authoring a book on collaborative learning in environmental conflict and co-editing another on innovative practices in environmental communication and public participation, Professor Walker is involved in community workshops and research on environmental policy issues. He advises national collaboration efforts, participates in climate change negotiations, and chairs a working group for the International Environmental Communication Association. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas, and a B.A. and B.S. degrees in Communication, Sociology, and History from the University of Minnesota.

Conservation International

Nora Moraga-Lewy is the Conflict Resolution & Peace Manager at Conservation International (CI), a global conservation NGO. Her role is focused on helping CI understand and respond to the conflict dynamics where it works -- including identifying opportunities to support peace. Her projects range from managing conflict and human rights risks related to conservation projects through safeguards and conflict sensitivity to contributing to research on the human security co-benefits of ecosystem restoration projects. Previously, Nora managed the Rainforest Journalism Fund at the Pulitzer Center and was a Research Associate at the Environmental Law Institute (ELI). She holds a BA in Environmental Studies and Certificate in Energy Studies from Yale College and a MEM from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.
