This brief presentation outlines results from a survey of researchers, practitioners, and policymakers contributing their perspectives on the environment and peace nexus, particularly with respect to the integration of environmental considerations into peace measurements. It includes discussion and forms a project of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) Ambassador program

IEP defines positive peace as the attitudes, structures and institutions that underpin and sustain peaceful societies. Further information can be found here.  Your responses to this survey will contribute to the Ambassador Programin the areas of positive peace and environmental sustainability.

The aims of this pilot survey are:

  1. Gather diverse (practitioner, academic, policy etc) perspectives on the general relationship between environment and positive peace that contribute to furthering research in this nexus
  2. Gather diverse perspectives on specific gaps and potential new research directions in the environment and positive peace research
  3. Raise awareness of IEP's positive peace work amongst practitioners in both the peace and environmental fields.
  4. Prototype a survey method as a basis of further investigations into models for integrations into environment and peace.
