Climate change is exacerbating competition over natural resources worldwide, leading to shifting and increased conflict. In the coming decades, global trends such as urbanization, displacement, rising resource demand, and environmental degradation are likely to make matters worse. Yet the shared use of land, water, and other resources is also critical for cooperation, peacebuilding, reconstruction, and long-term development generally. As a growing body of evidence makes clear, secure resource rights and strong local governance can help reduce the incidence and severity of disputes, boost resilience, and improve livelihoods.Join USAID and New America on Thursday, June 8th to explore the challenges associated with natural resource management, climate change, and conflict, as well as the tools and approaches that practitioners can use to address these critical issues. The event will take place in-person Thursday, June 8, 2023 | 10:00AM - 11:30AM EST | In-Person at New America and Online, located at 740 15th Street NW, 9th Floor, Washington DC 20005.
